Burundi 2019-20 Home (BERAHINO #18) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is a Garman Burundi national team 2019 home jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Saido Berahino.

Until 2019, Burundi had never qualified for a major tournament, with their greatest achievements prior to this being qualifying for the 2014 African Nations Championship and finishing second at the 2004 CECAFA Cup. Their current squad however is one of the strongest in their history and includes players competing in some of Europe’s top leagues, including Gaël Bigirimana & Saido Berahino. The team made history in 2019 by qualifying for their maiden African Cup of Nations tournament, with a draw in the final qualification match against Gabon securing their place. Although they were competitive in every match, Burundi finished last in their group, however with a relatively young squad, hopes are high that they can continue their rise over the coming years.

Saido Berahino is arguably the highest-profile player to represent Burnudi at international level and has had a prolific club career playing predominantly in the English Premier League. The 31-year-old began his club career with West Bromwich Albion, singing for the club’s youth team at age 11 and then debuting for the senior team 6 years later. He played a total of 105 matches and scored 23 goals for West Brom from 2010 until joining fellow EPL club Stoke City in 2017. Following Stoke City’s relegation in 2018, he had successful spells at Belgian top tier clubs S.V. Zulte Waregem and Charleroi before returning to England to sign with Sheffield Wednesday in August 2021. After one season with the Owl, he joined Cypriot First Division club AEL Limassol in mid-2022. Berahino was born in Burundi but moved to England at the age of 10 and played for England’s youth national teams from U16 to U21. In 2018, he made the decision to represent Burundi internationally, with Berahino playing a key role in their 2019 AFCON qualification and later captaining the team in the tournament.
