In August 2021, Serie A giants AS Roma announced the acquisition of Shomurodov on a five-year contract for €17.5 million plus bonuses, where he has been a regular starter in his debut season at the club. He has since had loan spells with fellow Serie A clubs Spezia and Cagliari.
