This is a Jako Uzbekistan 2023 national team home jersey featuring the name and number of star defender Abdukodir Khusanov.

Uzbekistan have established themselves as the most successful national team in Central Asia since their first international match as an independent nation in 1992. Although the ‘White Wolves’ have never qualified for a FIFA World Cup, they have qualified for every AFC Asian Cup since 1996, where they have progressed past the group stages in the past five tournaments. At youth level, they have qualified for the U-17 World Cup and U-20 World Cup in recent years, and with a number of young players coming through their ranks, there is a strong chance that an appearance at the World Cup in not far away for Uzbekistan. 

Abdukodir Khusanov is widely seen as one of the best young players to emerge from Central Asia in recent years and a star talent in a potential golden generation of Uzbek football. Khusanov came up through the youth ranks of local club Bunyodkor, however before he played a senior match for the club he was signed by Belarusian Premier League side Energetik-BGU Minsk in March 2022. He immediately became a key part of their starting lineup and quickly attracted the interest of clubs throughout Europe. Khusanov’s reputation was further enhanced by his strong performances in the U-20 AFC Asian Cup, where Uzbekistan won the title as hosts. In July 2023, he signed with Ligue 1 club RC Lens on a four-year contract, thus becoming the first Uzbek football to play professionally in France and one of the very few Central Asian footballers to be in a major European league. Khusanov made his senior debut for the Uzbekistan national team in 2023 and has already won 10 caps for his country.
