Misr Lel Makkasa SC compete in the Egyptian Premier League and are based in the city of Faiyum in Middle Egypt. The club was originally founded in 1937 as Hweidi Club and competed in regional leagues until coming under the ownership of the Misr lel-Makkasa Company (translates as the Egypt Company for Clearing and Settlement of Financial Transactions) in the mid-2000s. They quickly began to rise up the ranks of Egyptian football and were promoted to the Premier League for the first team in their history in the 2010-11 season. Misr Lel Makkasa performed strongly in their debut season in the top flight, finishing in 6^th place. In the 2016-17 league season, the club shocked Egyptian football by finishing in 2^nd place, above Zamalek but 10 points below title-winners Al-Ahly. They have since failed by replicate the success of the 2016-17 season, however the club remains a regular mid-table finisher in one of Africa’s strongest leagues.
