This is a Nike Misr Lel Makkasa SC 2020-21 away jersey featuring the number of star striker/attacking midfielder Shimelis Bekele.

Misr Lel Makkasa SC compete in the Egyptian Premier League and are based in the city of Faiyum in Middle Egypt. The club was originally founded in 1937 as Hweidi Club and competed in regional leagues until coming under the ownership of the Misr lel-Makkasa Company (translates as the Egypt Company for Clearing and Settlement of Financial Transactions) in the mid-2000s. They quickly began to rise up the ranks of Egyptian football and were promoted to the Premier League for the first team in their history in the 2010-11 season. Misr Lel Makkasa performed strongly in their debut season in the top flight, finishing in 6th place. In the 2016-17 league season, the club shocked Egyptian football by finishing in 2nd place, above Zamalek but 10 points below title-winners Al-Ahly. They have since failed by replicate the success of the 2016-17 season, however the club remains a regular mid-table finisher in one of Africa’s strongest leagues.

Shimelis Bekele is one of the greatest Ethiopian footballers of the modern era and has been prolific at both club and international level. Bekele began his senior career with his hometown club Hawassa City in 2010 before joining Ethiopia’s leading club Saint George the following season. After impressing in his two seasons at the club, Bekele was signed by Libyan giants Ittihad Tripoli in 2013 and later Sudanese powerhouse Al-Merrikh in 2014. Following one season with Al-Merrikh, Bekele transferred to Egyptian Premier League club Petrojet, where he had a highly successful five-season spell, eventually becoming the club captain. In 2019, Bekele joined Misr Lel Makkasa and has quickly become one of their leading scorers, finishing with 11 goals in the 2020-21 season. The 31-year-old holds the record for the all-time most caps for the Ethiopian national team, having played 63 matches for his country since debuting in 2010. Bekele has captained the team in recent years and is due to lead Ethiopia at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
