Yemen 2023 Gulf Cup Home (O. AL-DAHI #9) Jersey/Shirt

This is a Jako Yemen national team home jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Omar Al-Dahi as worn by Yemen as they competed in the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup hosted by Iraq in January 2023.

Yemen have traditionally been one of the weaker teams in the Middle East, having only made it through the group stage of the Arabian Gulf Cup once and never qualifying for a major tournament, that is until their breakthrough qualification for the 2019 Asian Cup. Despite experiencing an intense civil war and unable to host home matches, Yemen defied the odds by reaching their maiden Asian Cup by finishing 2nd in their qualifying group ahead of Tajikistan and Nepal. With a squad comprised mostly of players from their domestic league as well as some playing in Qatar & Oman, ‘The Red Devils’ failed to make it past the group stages of the 2019 Asian Cup, losing all three matches. Despite this, the team will be hoping to build on this achievement and with a number of promising young players, Yemen will look to continue to provide some joy for their war-torn country.

Omar Al-Dahi is a leading player in the current generation of Yemeni football and one of the very few footballers from Yemen to be playing their club football abroad. Al-Dahi began his senior career with hometown club Al Shaab Sanaa in 2018, where his immense potential was quickly recognised. In 2019, he was signed by Iraqi Premier League club Al-Qasim, staying at the club for 1 ½ seasons before joining Aswan SC, who compete in the Egyptian Premier League in 2020. He has since had spells with Iraqi club Al-Zawra'a Baghdad and Bahraini club Al-Najma Manama. At international level, Al-Dahi has become a regular in the Yemen squad in recent years, with the 24-year-old having scored 4 goals in 26 matches since debuting for the national team in 2019.
