This is a Jako Uzbekistan 2023 national team home jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Eldor Shomurodov.

Eldor Shomurodov is currently the highest-profile player in Uzbek football and the 28-year-old looks set to become one of the greatest players to emerge from Uzbekistan in the modern era. He began his career with local club Mash'al Mubarek before signing with Uzbek giants FC Bunyodkor in 2015. Shomurodov developed quickly in his three seasons with Bunyodkor and after attracting the interest of many overseas clubs he signed with Russian Premier League side FC Rostov in 2017. He continued this strong form in Russia and after an impressive 2019-20 season, he signed with Italian Serie A club Genoa in October 2020. At Genoa he took his game to another level, scoring 8 goals in 31 matches to attract the attention of Europe's major clubs. In August 2021, Serie A giants AS Roma announced the acquisition of Shomurodov on a five-year contract for €17.5 million plus bonuses, where he has been a regular starter in his debut season at the club. He has since had loan spells with fellow Serie A clubs Spezia and Cagliari. At international level, Shomurodov has been prolific and has scored 38 goals in 69 international matches since debuting for Uzbekistan in 2015, making him their all-time leading goalscorer.

Uzbekistan have established themselves as the most successful national team in Central Asia since their first international match as an independent nation in 1992. Although the ‘White Wolves’ have never qualified for a FIFA World Cup, they have qualified for every AFC Asian Cup since 1996, where they have progressed past the group stages in the past five tournaments. At youth level, they have qualified for the U-17 World Cup and U-20 World Cup in recent years, and with a number of young players coming through their ranks, there is a strong chance that an appearance at the World Cup in not far away for Uzbekistan.
