This is a Joma Turkmenistan national team 2016-17 home jersey featuring the name and number of star midfielder Ruslan Mingazov.

Until the past few years, Turkmenistan were one of the weaker teams in the AFC region, however a recent improvement has been the team achieve the strongest results in their history. Despite an Asian Cup appearance in 2004, there were few moments of success for the ‘Akhal-Teke's’ however after growing momentum through successful runners-up finish in the 2010 & 2012 editions of the AFC Challenge Cup, Turkmenistan once again qualified for the Asian Cup in 2019. Despite their inexperienced squad losing all three matches, they almost caused a huge upset after a hard-fought 3-2 loss in their opening match against Japan.

Mingazov is one of the few Turkmen footballers to play outside of the local league and is currently signed to Hong Kong Premier League giants Kitchee. He began his club career with local club FC Aşgabat before having a highly successful spell in Latvia with Skonto Rīga. This led to Mingazov being signed by Czech top tier club Baumit Jablonec and after two strong seasons, he caught the attention of Czech giants Slavia Prague, joining the club in 2016. His opportunities in the first team at Slavia Prague were limited and he eventually moved to Kazakh club FC Irtysh Pavlodar in 2019, with financial issues at the club causing him to sign with fellow Kazakh club FC Shakhter Karagandy in August 2020. At international level Mingazov has been a key member of the Turkmenistan national team for the past 10 years, where he has played 30 matches and scored 6 goals since his debut in 2009.
