This is a Joma Trinidad & Tobago national team 2021 away jersey featuring the number of star winger Ryan Telfer.

The Trinidad & Tobago national team have a proud history with periods of great success. They played their first international match in 1905 and have consistently been one of the strongest teams in the Caribbean regions. The strongest period throughout their history was the 2000s, which saw the Soca Warriors finish 3rd in the 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup, reach an all-time high FIFA ranking of 25 in June 2001 and qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Despite coming into the 2006 World Cup as the smallest nation to ever qualify for the tournament, Trinidad & Tobago shocked a strong Sweden team with a 0-0 and had competitive losses to England and Paraguay. Their squad at the time included many of the national teams’ greatest-ever players including Dwight Yorke, Carlos Edwards, Kenwyne Jones and Shaka Hislop. The team have never been able to come close to these achievements since this golden era and have achieved little success in recent years.

Ryan Telfer has become a key member of the Soca Warriors squad in recent years, with the 31-year-old earning his call-up to the national team after rising through the ranks of club football Canada. Telfer was born in Canada, then raised in his parents’ homeland of Trinidad, and later returned to Canada where he made his senior club debut in 2016 with semi-pro club Vaughan Azzurri, who compete in the 2nd tier of Canadian football. He then was signed by Toronto FC II in 2017 and after performing strongly for the club in the USL Championship, Telfer joined their first team in the MLS in 2018.  He struggled for regular game time for Toronto FC and was loaned out to York9 FC in 2019, scoring 8 goals in 26 matches in the inaugural Canadian Premier League season. Telfer has a brief stint with Cypriot First Division side Nea Salamis in 2020 before returning to York9 and later signed with fellow Canadian Premier League club Atlético Ottawa in April 2021. At international level, Telfer made his debut for Trinidad & Tobago in September 2019 and has since scored 10 goals in 29 matches, becoming one of their leading scorers as the national team looks to revitalize their squad in the coming years.
