This is a Puma Sudan national team 2020 home jersey featuring the number of veteran striker Ramadan Agab.

Sudan is one of the oldest national teams in Africa and were one of three teams to compete in the inaugural Africa Cup of Nations in 1957. Their greatest achievement was winning the 1970 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil; however, they have achieved little success since then. From 1976 until 2008, they did not qualify for AFCON, yet in 2012 they saw a resurgence by making it through to the Quarter-Finals. Sudan have also performed well at the African Nations Championship, finishing 3rd in both the 2011 & 2018 CHAN tournaments. Sudan’s relatively strong domestic league has been somewhat of a hindrance for national team development with top players almost never leaving the local league to seek a higher level overseas, however this is beginning to change as a growing number of Sudanese footballers have signed with foreign clubs in recent years. Sudan returned to the African Cup of Nations in 2021, recording impressive victories against South Africa and Ghana to secure their first AFCON qualification since 2012.

Ramadan Agab has been one of Sudan’s top footballers in the past decade and has played both as a center-forward and attacking midfielder throughout his distinguished career. The 36-year-old began his club career with Omdurman-based club Al-Nesoor in 2005, however it wasn’t until his stint with Al-Mourada SC from 2009-2012 where he established himself as a leading player in the league. His strong form led to a move to Al-Merrikh in 2012 and also a place in the Sudan national team squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. Since 2012, Agab has remained at Al-Merrikh, where he has become a legendary figure, having been involved in 5 league titles and 4 Sudan Cup titles while at the club. In recent years he has played mostly as a striker after beginning his career as an attacking midfielder and he was joint top-scorer in the 2019-20 league season. At international level, Agab has been a key member of the Sudan national team squad since his debut in 2010 and has scored a total of 7 goals in 51 international matches for the ‘Falcons of Jediane.’
