£34.99

XXL

This is an Adidas San Marino national team 2016-17 away jersey featuring the number of legendary striker Andy Selva.

San Marino is one of the world's oldest republics, having maintained its independence for more than 1,700 years despite being completely surrounded by Italy. With a population of around 34,000 and a land area of just 61.2 km², producing a competitive national football team has always been an immense challenge. A FIFA and UEFA member since 1988, San Marino spent decades as international football's perennial underdog, but recent years have brought signs of genuine progress. After famously defeating Liechtenstein 1–0 in 2004 for their first-ever competitive victory, San Marino ended a 20-year wait for another win by defeating Liechtenstein again in 2024. They also secured promotion from UEFA Nations League D for the first time in their history, marking the most successful period the national team has ever enjoyed. While victories remain rare, San Marino's growing competitiveness has given supporters renewed optimism that the gap to Europe's other smaller nations is beginning to close.

Andy Selva is arguably San Marino’s greatest-ever footballer and is one of the few Sammarinese players to compete professionally at club level. Selva has played all his club football in Italy’s lower leagues, with his most successful spell being at Sassuolo, where we scored 23 goals from 59 games and played a decisive role in their promotion to Serie B. At international level, he is San Marino’s all-time leading scorer and also the third most-capped player in their history with 8 goals from 73 matches since debuting in 1998. He famously scored the goal that secured victory for San Marino in their memorable victory against Liechtenstein in 2004.
