The Northern Territory representative football team is a select side made up of the best players from across the Northern Territory, Australia. Managed by Football Northern Territory (FNT), the team competes in interstate tournaments, showcase matches, and special representative fixtures rather than in national leagues. Serving as an important pathway for local talent, the team highlights the Territory’s diverse football culture, bringing together players predominantly from Darwin and Alice Springs. The Northern Territory has never had a professional team in Australia’s top-tier national competitions; however, they have been represented in the FFA Cup (now Australia Cup) through local clubs. In recent years, clubs such as Hellenic Athletic and Darwin Olympic have both qualified for the national rounds, giving NT football exposure on the national stage.
