New Radiant SC compete in the Maldives’ Dhivehi Premier League and are based in Henveiru, a district of the Maldives’ capital Malé. New Radiant are traditionally one of the strongest clubs in the country, having won the league title 6 times since the Dhivehi league was first created in 2000. From the period of 2012-2017, they won 5 out 6 league titles with much of their squad comprising of members of the Maldives national team. They have also won the Maldives FA Cup a record 12 times, with their most recent cup title coming in 2017.

Ali Fasir is one of the greatest Maldivian footballers of the modern era and has consistently been a leading striker in the Dhivehi Premier League since his senior league debut in 2006. Fasir was born in Eydhafushi, the capital of Baa Atoll, one of the outer island groups of the Maldives with a population of just over 11,000 people. He was scouted by Malé-based team Club Eagles during a training camp and soon made the move to the city. The 31-year-old has played his entire club career within the Maldives and has often featured as one of the league top-scorers throughout this time. At international level, Fasir has played 51 matches for the Maldives national team and scored 12 goals.
