This is a Kappa New Caledonia national team 2018-19 home jersey featuring the number of star winger César Zeoula.
César Zeoula is one of the most prominent New Caledonian footballers of the modern era and is one of the few players from the national team to play their club football outside the country. Zeoula currently plays for UA Cognac, who compete in Championnat National 3, the fifith tier of football in France. He began his career in New Caledonia with local clubs AS Lito, Le Mont-Dore and AS Magenta, before moving to 3rd tier French club Stade Laval, where he played from 2011-2018. At international level, Zeoula has played 35 matches and scored 10 goals since debuting for Les Cagous in 2008.
New Caledonia have traditionally been one of the strongest teams in the Oceania Football Confederation and consistently reach the latter stages of the OFC Nations Cup, yet they have never won the tournament. They have also produced several players that have gone onto play in Europe, most recently including Georges Gope-Fenepej, Jekob Jeno and César Zeoula. Former Real Madrid midfielder Christian Karembeu is the most famous footballer to come from New Caledonia, however he played for France at international level.
