Mayotte is a group of islands off the coast of Southeast Africa and is an overseas department of France. Mayotte is neither a member of FIFA or CAF, however plays regular matches against their regional neighbours and competes in the Indian Ocean Island Games. 'The Seahorses' have always performed competitively at international level and often defeat their FIFA-affiliated rivals. Their best achievement is a third-place finish at the Indian Ocean Islands Games football tournament, which they accomplished in both the 2007 and 2019 editions.
