This is a Majid Iran national team 2026 home jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Mehdi Taremi.
Iran has consistently been of the top national teams in Asia and has been the highest-ranked team in Asia for the majority of the past decade. They are regular World Cup participants, having qualified 7 times including the past 4 editions and have won the AFC Asian Cup three times- in 1968, 1972 & 1976. In recent years they have continued their regional dominance, however have been unable to add to their Asian Cup tally despite making it to at least the Quarter-Finals in almost every edition of the tournament. With a number of players competing in some of Europe’s top leagues as well as having a relatively strong domestic league, it is expected that Iran will remain as one of Asia’s powerhouses in the coming years.
Mehdi Taremi has established himself as one of Iran’s leading footballers of his generation, building an accomplished career across the Middle East and some of Europe’s biggest leagues. Born in Bushehr in 1992, Taremi rose to prominence with Persepolis, where he won two Iranian league titles and twice finished as the competition’s leading goalscorer, before spells with Al-Gharafa in Qatar and Rio Ave in Portugal. His performances at Rio Ave earned him a move to FC Porto in 2020, where he enjoyed four successful seasons, scoring 91 goals in 182 appearances across all competitions and winning the Primeira Liga and several domestic cups. Taremi later joined Inter Milan, becoming the first Iranian to represent the Italian giants and helping them reach the 2025 UEFA Champions League final, before moving to Olympiacos in 2025 and then joining UAE club Al Wasl in August 2026. A senior Iran international since 2015, Taremi has represented his country at three FIFA World Cups, scoring twice against England at the 2022 tournament and remaining a key figure as Iran competed at the 2026 World Cup in North America.
