Hong Kong 2018-19 Home (Y HUANG #6) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is a Nike Hong Kong national team 2018-19 home jersey featuring the name and number of former midfielder and captain Huang Yang.

Hong Kong has a rich footballing history, having played their first international match over 100 years ago and becoming a FIFA member in 1954. Despite being a Special Administrative Region of China since 1997, Hong Kong have maintained a national football team and regularly play against China. Although Hong Kong have never qualified for the World Cup, their most celebrated victory was in the 1986 World Cup qualifiers, where they recorded an historic 2-1 against China in Beijing to advance to the next stage of qualifiers and subsequently knock-out China. After several decades of struggles, Hong Kong have re-emerged on the international stages over the past 10 years and have consistently achieved relatively strong results. This improvement has culminated in their qualification for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, their first appearance at the tournament since 1968.

Huang Yang was one of the leading footballers in Hong Kong throughout the 2010s and had a prominent career at both club and international level. Huang was born and raised in Shanghai and came through the youth ranks of Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua, however never made a senior appearance for their first team. He was loaned out to 2nd tier club Shanghai Zobon for the 2006 season and following this he gave up on professional football to study in Hong Kong. Following the completion of his studies, he returned to football and joined Hong Kong Premier League giants Kitchee in 2011. He became a key player and leader for the club over many seasons, with Kitchee winning 6 league titles and 7 FA Cup titles during his 13-season spell. He eventually retired from all levels of football in 2024 at the age of 40 after playing 317 matches for Kitchee, ranking him at 2nd in the all-time most appearances record for the club. At international level, Huang was eligible to represent Hong Kong having lived in the city for a long period as a student and made his debut for the national team in 2012. He won 71 caps for Hong Kong, making him the 2nd most capped player in the history of the national team and was their captain from 2019 until his international retirement in 2023, having led them to their historic qualification for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
