Representing a territory of around 40,000 people, the British Virgin Islands are one of international football’s smallest teams, with a FIFA ranking that has ranged from a high of 160 in the early 2000s to a low of 209 in 2022. Recent years have brought encouraging progress, highlighted by eliminating the US Virgin Islands in 2026 World Cup qualifying, a narrow 1–0 defeat to Jamaica and victories over the Cayman Islands, Bahamas and Anguilla.
