The Azores regional football team represents the Autonomous Region of the Azores, one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal. The Azores are located about 1,400km west of Lisbon and have been a region of Portugal for centuries since first being settled in 1439. The Azores regional team is administered by the Associação de Futebol de Ponta Delgada, the regional football body for the Azores capital of Ponta Delgada. The team competes in various football competitions, including a recent friendly match against the Bermuda national team in 2019, which was played as part of the 170th anniversary celebrations of the first arrival of Portuguese immigrants to the island.
