Al-Ittihad are the most successful club in the history of Libyan football, having won a record 17 Libyan Premier League titles and 7 Libyan Cup titles. Alongside arch-rivals Al-Ahli Tripoli they are one of the most well-supported clubs in Libyan and they play at the 80,000 capacity Tripoli International Stadium, one of the largest in Africa. Al-Ittihad became the first Libyan club to qualify for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2007, where they lost to eventual runners-up Al-Ahly of Egypt (1–0) on aggregate.
