This is an AMS Clothing Zanzibar national team 2017/18 home jersey featuring the number of star midfielder and captain Suleiman Kassim.
Kassim currently plays for DR Congo club Bukavu Dawa, who compete in the top tier of football in the country. He started his career at Zanzibar Premier League club Mafunzo FC before moving to Tanzanian giants Azam FC. Kassim captained Zanzibar in the 2017 CECAFA Cup, where the Zanzibar Heroes shocked the region by reaching the final only to narrowly lose to hosts Kenya on penalties.
Zanzibar is one of the world’s few national teams that regularly competes at full international level against FIFA members despite not being a FIFA member themselves. As a member of East Africa’s sub-confederation of CECAFA, Zanzibar compete in the annual CECAFA Cup, where they have regularly reached the later stages and even won the title in 1995.
