Somalia 2019 Away (#8- ABDULLAHI) Jersey/Shirt

£29.99

This is an Adidas Somalia national team 2019 away jersey featuring the number of star midfielder Abdulsamed Abdullahi.

Abdulsamed Abdullahi is one of several players from the Somali diaspora to commit to representing Somalia at international level in 2019. The young midfielder was born & raised in the Netherlands, where he has played the majority of his club football. Abdullahi began his career with 3rd tier clubs Kozakken Boys and Jong Sparta before signing his first professional contract with Eerste Divisie side Den Bosch in 2019. In 2020 he was signed by Ergotelis, who are competing in the Greek Super League 2. Abdullahi was called up to the Somali national team for the World Cup qualifiers in 2019 and played both legs of their tie against Zimbabwe.

Somalia’s national team has been one of the lowest ranked in FIFA over the past few decades largely due to the country’s civil war and inability to host home matches. This situation has affected all levels of football in Somalia, however with recent improvements in security and the emergence of their youth teams, the future looks bright for Somali football. One sign of this optimism was the impressive performance by Somalia’s U-17 national team at the 2018 CECAFA U-17 Championship, where they finished runners-up after defeating regional powerhouses Kenya & Uganda. Another exemplification of the teams’ progress was their heartbreaking loss to Zimbabwe in the opening round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September 2019, where Somalia looked like they were about to pull off a huge upset before conceding 2 late goals to lose 3-2 on aggregate.
