This is a Macron Phoenix Rising FC 2018 home jersey featuring the name and number of legendary striker Didier Drogba.
Didier Drogba is one of the greatest strikers of the modern era and achieved an incredible level of success throughout both his club and international career. Drogba is best remembered for his time at English Premier League giants Chelsea, where he played a key role in the club winning 4 league titles, 4 FA Cup titles and most notably scoring an 88th minute equaliser in the 2012 UEFA Champions League final, which Chelsea later won on penalties. At international level, Drogba captained the Ivory Coast national team from 2006 until his retirement from the Ivory Coast team and is the nation's all-time top goalscorer with 65 goals from 105 appearances. In April 2017 at the age of 39, Drogba signed with Phoenix Rising, where he became a minority owner of the club, making him the first player-owner in professional football history. He played two seasons for Phoenix, scoring 13 goals in 21 matches before retiring from football at the end of club’s successful 2018 season.
Phoenix Rising compete in the USL Championship, the second tier of football in the United States and are based in Phoenix, Arizona. The club were founded in 2014 as Arizona United and were later rebranded to Phoenix Rising in 2016 following a change of ownership. Since then, the club have established themselves as one of the strongest in the league, winning the USL Championship title in 2019 as well as the Western Conference Playoffs in 2018 & 2020.
