This is a Reebok Panama national team 2023 home jersey featuring the name and number of star defender Michael Amir Murillo.

Panama have emerged as one of the stronger teams in the CONCACAF region in recent decades, having finished as runners-up at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2005, 2013 and 2023, losing to the United States on the former two occasions and to Mexico in the latter. Panama has also competed in the sub-regional Copa Centroamericana which they won in 2009, beating Costa Rica in the final on penalties. They finished in third place on three occasions (1993, 2011, 2014), and finished as runners-up behind Honduras in the 2017 edition, which they hosted. Panama’s greatest achievement to date has been qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where they incredibly finished ahead of the United States to secure the final spot in the CONCACAF region.

Michael Amir Murillo is arguably the leading player in the current generation of Panamanian football and one of the few footballers from his country to be playing at a high level in Europe. Murillo began his career with hometown club San Francisco F.C, where he made his debut in the Liga Panameña de Fútbol at age 18 in the 2014-15 season. He quickly established himself as a first team regular and in 2017 he moved to MLS club New York Red Bulls in a season-long loan, where he continued to impress. In 2018, he signed permanently with the club and became one of the top defenders in the MLS throughout his 3 seasons in New York. In late 2019, Murillo joined Belgian giants Anderlecht and remained at the club for 3 ½ seasons before joining Ligue 1 side Marseille in August 2023. At international level, Murillo has played a key role in the recent success of the Panama national team and was the starting right back for the team in their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign. He has played a total of 76 matches and scored 9 goals since his debut for Panama in 2016.
