C.D. Palestino 2024 Third Jersey/Shirt
£29.99
This is a Capelli Sport Club Deportivo Palestino third jersey as worn by the team throughout the 2024 period.
This jersey pays tribute to the special bond between Celtic and Palestine and like Celtic's iconic home kit, it features green and white hoops. Celtic fans have displayed support for Palestine over the years, from the Match the Fine campaign in 2016 after a sanction from UEFA to the recent display of flags by the Celtic fans.
Club Deportivo Palestino compete in Chile’s Primera División and are based in the capital Santiago. The club was founded in 1920 by a group of Palestinian immigrants with the name reflecting the club’s Palestinian origins. CD Palestino continue to represent their Palestinian roots, with many of their fans, players and officials coming from Chile’s significant Palestinian community. In 2018, the club won their first major title since the 1970s when they won the Copa Chile.
This jersey features the symbolic number font first used by Palestino in 2013, with the number one shaped as the map of Palestine prior to the creation of Israel in 1948. The club intended this as a promotion to create awareness for the rights of the Palestinian people, however they were later fined by the Chilean Football Federation who deemed it as a political action against the rules of the federation.
