This is a Macron FC Akhmat Grozny 2021-22 away jersey featuring the name and number of star defender Andrei Semyonov.

Akhmat Grozny compete in the Russian Premier League and are based in Grozny, the capital city of the Chechen Republic. The Chechen Republic is one of the 24 republics of Russia, which are administrative divisions originally created to represent areas of non-Russian ethnicity, with the mostly Muslim Chechen ethnic group comprising 95% of the roughly 1.5 million population. The region has seen significant periods of conflict since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, with the Russia-backed Akhmat Kadyrov (of which Akhmat Grozny is now named after) controlling the Republic until his assassination in 2004, with his son Ramzan now in power. Akhmat Grozny was founded in 1946 and has mostly been named Terek Grozny until adopting the Akhmat name in 2017. The team had largely played in the lower leagues for most of its history, but has been in the top tier since 2008, with their best league season in 2016-17 culminating in a 5th place finish. The most memorable period in the history of the club was 2004, where they won the Russian First League (2^nd tier) title and most significantly the 2003-04 Russian Cup title with a shock 1-0 victory in the final against Krylia Sovetov, then one of Russia’s strongest clubs.

Andrei Semyonov (spelt АНДРЕЙ СЕМЁНОВ in Russian) has been one of Akhmat Grozny’s greatest players in the modern era and the only player at the club to regularly appear for the Russia national team. Semyonov came up through the youth ranks of Spartak Moscow, however didn’t get selected for their senior team and instead began his senior career with third-tier club Sokol Saratov in 2008. He eventually made his Russian Premier League with FC Amkar Perm in 2012 and after 1 ½ seasons at the club, he was signed by Terek Grozny in early 2014. Semyonov has remained at the club ever since and the 33-year-old has now played more than 250 matches for Grozny, playing a key role in their defence over the past 10 seasons. Semyonov has won 27 caps for the Russian national team, having made his international debut in 2014. He was selected for their squads at both the 2014 & 2018 FIFA World Cups, however did not make an appearance, although he did appear for the team in Euro 2020, playing the full match in Russia’s opening game against Belgium.
