Fiji 2016 Home (KRISHNA #9) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is a BLK Fiji national team home jersey as worn by the Bula Boys in the 2016 Rio Olympics football tournament featuring the name and number of star striker Roy Krishna.

Krishna is arguably the greatest player in Fijian football history and is one of the only Fijian footballers to have played professionally outside the country. He began his senior career in New Zealand’s top-tier with Waitakere United and later Auckland City before making the move in 2014 to Wellington Phoenix, a club based in New Zealand but competing in Australia’s A-League. Upon signing for the Phoenix he established himself as one of the best strikers in the A-League and was the league MVP as well as top-scorer in the 2018-19 season. In 2019 he signed with Indian Super League side ATK and quickly made a massive impact, finishing as the league’s top scorer as his club won the 2019-20 league title. At international level, he has been Fiji’s leading striker since making his debut as a 20-year-old in 2007. Since then, he has scored 32 goals in 46 matches in addition to being the national team captain since 2014.

The 2016 Olympics tournament was the first time that Fiji was participating in a major international competition and not surprisingly Fiji suffered heavy defeats against their world-class opponents of South Korea, Mexico and Germany. However, they did give Mexico a scare when star striker Roy Krishna scored the opening goal as Fiji maintained a lead until early in the second half before eventually losing 5-1. Fiji’s other achievements include winning the football tournaments at the Pacific Games in 1991 & 2003. Their current squad led by Roy Krishna has shown promising signs with a growing number of talented young players expected to continue the development of Fijian football on the international stage.
