This is an uhlsport Kenya national team 2022-23 home jersey featuring the number of star striker Michael Olunga.

Kenya’s national team are one of the oldest in Africa, having played their first international match in 1926. Despite their long history, a relatively strong domestic league and often having a squad containing several European-based players, Kenya have rarely made much impact in international football. They have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations 6 times, but have never made it past the group stages, with their most recent appearance coming in 2019. Kenya have often been hindered by administrative problems, with their FA receiving several bans from FIFA is recent decades. Their current squad is one of the strongest in their history and hopes are high that they can finally emerge as a strong footballing nation in the near future.

Michael Olunga is considered to be one of the finest footballers to emerge from Kenya in recent years, with the 29-year-old having an impressive goal-scoring record at both club and international level. Olunga initially established himself in the Kenyan Premier League, firstly with Thika United and then Gor Mahia, where he scored 19 goals in 27 matches in the 2015 season. This attracted the attention of several European clubs and he was later signed by Swedish giants Djurgårdens IF. He greatly impressed in his first season at the club, scoring 12 goals to finish fifth in the Allsvenskan top scorer table. Despite some of Europe’s top clubs looking to sign him, he joined Chinese Super League club Guizhou Zhicheng in 2017 and had a difficult spell due to the newly-imposed foreign player restrictions in China. After a brief loan spell with La Liga club Girona FC, he joined Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol in 2018, where he scored an impressive 58 goals in 72 matches. In January 2021, Olunga signed with Qatari giants Al-Duhail for an estimated €6 million transfer fee and he won the 2021 AFC Champions League Top Scorer award in his debut campaign. He later won the 2021–22 Qatar Stars League golden boot award, scoring an amazing 25 goals in 20 matches. Olunga followed this up with 22 goals in 22 matches in the 2022-23 QSL season to once again be crowned the league's top scorer. At international level, he has been one of the key players in the Kenya national team squad in recent years, having scored 22 goals in 53 matches since his debut in 2015.
