This is an Adidas Israel national team 2015 home jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Eran Zahavi.

Israel’s national team played their first international match in 1948 and was one of the founding members of the Asian Football Confederation, where they competed from 1954 until being expelled in 1974. Following their expulsion from the AFC, Israel initially competed in UEFA World Cup qualification and later in the Oceania Football Confederation qualifiers before becoming full UEFA members in 1994. Since joining UEFA, Israel have predominantly been one of the minor nations within the confederation, having not qualified for the Euros or the World Cup during this period, however have remained competitive and have been close to qualifying for the Euros on several occasions. Israel’s greatest period of success was in the 1960’s and 70’s, an era in which they qualified for the FIFA World Cup in 1970, as well as the Olympics in 1968 & 1976 in addition to winning the AFC Asian Cup in 1964.

Eran Zahavi has been one of the leading Israeli footballers over the past decade and has had a prolific club career playing in a number of top leagues throughout the world. He began his senior career with childhood club Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2006 and established himself as a leading prospect Israeli Premier League before signing with Italian Serie A club Palermo in 2011. After a sold first season in Italy, Zahavi struggled for game time in the following season and returned to Israeli in late 2012 signing with local giants Maccabi Tel Aviv. He had a remarkable spell over the next 3 ½ seasons with Maccabi, scoring 98 goals in 119 matches and winning the league top scorer award in all three full seasons he played at the club. After attracting much attention from major clubs in Europe, Zahavi signed a lucrative deal with Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R & F, where he played for 5 seasons and won the league golden boot in both 2017 & 2019 as well as the league MVP in 2017.  In September 2020, Zahavi returned to Europe and signed with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, where he spent 2 seasons before signed with Israeli giants Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2022. At international level, Zahavi has scored 34 goals in 73 matches for Israel since debuting in 2010 and is the all-time leading goalscorer in the history of the national team.
