This is a Jako Iraq national team home jersey as worn by the 'Lions of Mesopotamia' throughout the 2025-26 period.

Iraq has always had a relatively strong national team despite their recent history of political instability. Their 2007 AFC Asian Cup triumph has been described as one of football's greatest fairy tale victories, with the team managing to eliminate competitors with far greater preparation and resources on their way to the title, bringing joy and unity to the people of their war-torn nation. They qualified for their maiden FIFA World Cup in 1986 and have progressed past the group stages in almost every one of their Asian Cup appearances. After limited success following their 2007 Asian Cup title, Iraq’s recent performances have been promising, led by a young national team squad featuring a large number of European-based players as well as the developing domestic league. This culminated in their historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a return to the tournament exactly 40 years after they last qualified. They reached the 2026 World Cup through a long playoff process, eventually defeating Bolivia 2-1 in the final playoff to secure their qualification.
