Dominica 2022-23 Home (#19- THOMAS) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is an Errea Dominica national team 2022-23 home jersey featuring the number of midfielder and captain Briel Thomas.

Although Dominica has a rich footballing history, they have traditionally been one of the weaker teams in the Caribbean region. They played their first international match in 1932, however with a population of just over 70,000 it has been difficult for Dominica to assemble to competitive squad. Despite having a significant diaspora population in the US and UK, Dominica have largely drawn upon players from their domestic league to represent the national team. They have qualified for the Caribbean Cup twice- in 1994 and 1998, however are yet to record a victory at the tournament. The greatest achievements by the Dominica national team have been at the Windward Islands Tournament, where they have won the title 3 times- in 1971, 1985 & 1988, as well as recently recording 2nd place finishes in 2015 & 2017.

Briel Thomas has been one of Dominica’s leading footballers over the past decade, with the 29-year-old central midfielder being one of the very few players from the domestic league in Dominica to move abroad to play professionally. Thomas is from the village of Dublanc, located on the west coast of Dominica and began his senior club career in 2013 with hometown side Dublanc FC, who compete in Dominica’s top tier. His strong potential attracted the attention of clubs throughout the region and in 2015 he signed with Trinidadian giants W Connection F.C.  Thomas spent 6 seasons with W Connection, where he was one of their star players and played a key role in their 2018 league title victory. In 2021, Thomas returned to Dublanc FC and has once again become the star player in the Dominica Premier Leauge. At international level, Thomas has scored 8 goals in 51 matches since his debut for the national team in 2013. He is the 3rd most-capped and 4th top goalscorer in the history of Dominica national team.
