£34.99

This is a Macron Dominican Republic national team 2023-24 away jersey featuring the number of star defender Junior Firpo.

The Dominican Republic national team played their first international match in 1967, however has largely had limited success throughout their history. The greatest achievement for the team was their qualification for the football tournament at the 2024 Olympics, which was the first time the Dominica Republic has qualified for a major international tournament. This was achieved through their U20 team reaching the final of the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. The team has also qualified twice for the Caribbean Cup- in 1991 and 2012, where they failed to win a match in either tournament. The Dominican Republic reached an all-time high FIFA ranking of 78 in October 2013, following several victories in their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign. Following their strong performance in the 2024-25 CONCACAF Nations League, the Dominican Republic qualified for the 2025 Gold Cup, which will be their debut at the tournament. With an increasing number of European-based players, many of which are from the country’s overseas diaspora, the team are expected to continue to improve in the coming years.

Junior Firpo is arguably the highest-profile footballer to represent the Dominican Republic at international level, with the 28-year-old making the decision to play for the country of his birth in 2024. Firpo was born in Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic and moved to Spain at the age of 6, where he came up through the youth ranks of La Liga club Real Betis. He debuted for their senior team in 2018 after three seasons with the reserve team and quickly established himself as a key part of their squad. Firpo soon attracted the interest of major clubs throughout Europe and signed with La Liga giants Barcelona in August 2019 for a fee of €18 million plus €12 million in add-ons. After two seasons at Barcelona, Firpo signed with English Premier League club Leeds United in 2021, becoming the first Dominican player to play in the EPL. At international level, Firpo has scored 3 goals in 10 matches for the Dominican Republic and will be a major part of their squad for many years to come.
