This is a Macron Dominican Republic national team 2018 home jersey featuring the number of star winger Edipo Rodríguez.
The Dominican Republic national team played their first international match in 1967, however has largely had limited success throughout their history. The greatest achievement for the team was their qualification for the football tournament at the 2024 Olympics, which was the first time the Dominica Republic has qualified for a major international tournament. This was achieved through their U20 team reaching the final of the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. The team has also qualified twice for the Caribbean Cup- in 1991 and 2012, where they failed to win a match in either tournament. The Dominican Republic reached an all-time high FIFA ranking of 78 in October 2013, following several victories in their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign. Following their strong performance in the 2024-25 CONCACAF Nations League, the Dominican Republic qualified for the 2025 Gold Cup, which will be their debut at the tournament. With an increasing number of European-based players, many of which are from the country’s overseas diaspora, the team are expected to continue to improve in the coming years.
Edipo Rodríguez has been one of the leading Dominican footballers over the past decade, with the 31-year-old having spent the majority of career at various clubs in the Tercera División of Spain. He started his club career in 2011 with Spanish Segunda División club CD Numancia, before joining Tercera División side Guadajalara in 2015. He then had a brief back in the Dominican Republic with Atlético San Cristóbal in 2016, however after only a few months he moved back to Spain’s Tercera División joining CD San José, then having spells with CE L'Hospitalet and SD Tarazona until signing with Tercera División club SD Almazán in 2018. He has played a total of 29 international matches for the Dominican Republic, scoring a total of 7 goals since his debut for ‘Los Quisqueyanos’ in 2014.
