Antigua & Barbuda 2020-21 Home (#5- BOWRY) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is a Joma Antigua & Barbuda national team 2020-21 home jersey featuring the number of star defender Daniel Bowry.

Daniel Bowry is one of many England-born players to have represented Antigua & Barbuda over the years and the towering defender is amongst the highest-profile players in the current national team squad. The 24-year-old came up through the ranks of the Charlton Athletic academy and later signed for the League One side in 2017, although he never appeared for their senior team and was loaned out twice during his spell at the club. In 2019, Bowry joined League Two club Cheltenham Town, however struggled for game time and was loaned out for the majority of the two seasons he was signed there. In 2021, he made the move to National League side King’s Lynn Town, where he has been able to establish himself as an important part of their squad. He was eligible to play for both Antigua & Barbuda and Sant Kitts & Nevis at international level, and despite his father having won 2 caps for Saint Kits & Nevis, Bowry ultimately decided on Antigua & Barbuda, making his debut for the Benna Boys in 2018. He has since won 10 caps and scored 1 goal for the national team.

Antigua & Barbuda have achieved limited success at international level, however have established themselves as one of the stronger teams in the Caribbean region in recent years. Despite their population of only 96,000 Antigua & Barbuda have often outperformed their much larger local rivals throughout their history. The team’s strongest periods have been 1980s, which included a runners-up finish in the 1988 CFU Caribbean Championship, and also the early 2010s, where they performed strongly in the qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup. After struggling in recent years, there has been a greater focus on developing local players and it is hoped that this policy will result in more long-term success for the national team.
