Bahrain 2022-23 Home (#9- A. YUSUF) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is a Macron Bahrain national team 2022-23 home jersey featuring the number of star striker Abdulla Yusuf Helal.

Despite having a population of only about 1.5 million, Bahrain have often punched above their weight in international football. They had their first period of success in the mid-2000s, finishing in fourth place at the 2004 AFC Asian Cup and getting within one match of qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. They were also close to reaching the 2010 World Cup, just going down to New Zealand 1-0 on aggregate in the final play-off match. After a less successful period in the following years, Bahrain emerged in 2019 as one of the strongest teams in the Gulf region, winning their maiden Arabian Gulf Cup title, the WAFF Championship title as well as reaching the Round of 16 at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Abdulla Yusuf Helal has become a trailblazer in Bahraini football and is quickly developing into one of the nation’s all-time great players. Yusuf began his senior career in 2011 with hometown club East Riffa in the Bahraini Premier League. After six seasons he signed with Bahraini giants Muharraq SC, where he impressed several overseas clubs leading to him joining Czech First League club Bohemians 1905 in 2018, thus becoming the first Bahraini players to join a European top division club. Yusuf quickly became an important player for Bohemians and scored 5 goals in 24 matches before being signed by Czech giants Slavia Prague ahead of the 2019-20 season. On 17 September 2019, Yusuf entered the history again by being the first player from the GCC countries to participate in a 2019–20 UEFA Champions League match. At international level, Yusuf has played 87 matches and scored 13 goals since his debut for Bahrain’s national team in 2012.
