North Korea 2025 Away (H. KWANG SONG #10) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is an INA North Korea national team 2025 away jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Han Kwang-song.

Despite North Korea’s reputation globally, their football team has been relatively strong for much of the past 50 years. At their first World Cup appearance in 1966, North Korea reached the Quarter-Finals, defeating Italy in the group stage and being the first Asian team in history to make it past the group stage. They have qualified for the Asian Cup five times, with their best result being a 4th place finish in the 1980 edition. North Korea's 2nd and most recent appearance at the FIFA World Cup was in 2010, when they made it through after finishing above Asian giants Iran and Saudi Arabia in the qualification group. With a final pre-tournament FIFA ranking of 105th in the world, North Korea was the lowest-ranked team to qualify for the World Cup since the rankings began in 1993.  Although they lost all 3 matches in the 2010 World Cup, they shocked the football world with a surprisingly competitive 2-1 loss against superpower Brazil in their opening match.

Han Kwang-song gained international attention in 2017 when he became the first North Korean to play and score in Italy's Serie A, netting a goal for Cagliari against Torino. After his stint with Cagliari, Han was loaned to Perugia, where he continued to impress, leading to a transfer to Juventus in 2019. However, he primarily featured for Juventus' U23 team and did not make a first-team appearance. In early 2020, he moved to Qatari club Al-Duhail, but his contract was terminated in 2021 due to United Nations sanctions prohibiting North Korean nationals from working abroad. Following his departure from Al-Duhail, Han's whereabouts were unclear, with reports suggesting he was stranded abroad due to COVID-19 restrictions and North Korea's closed borders. He reemerged in 2023, returning to competitive football with April 25 Sports Club and rejoining the national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The 26-year old has scored 2 goals in 21 international matches since his national team debut in 2017.
