Hong Kong 2024 Home (#9- M ORR) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is a Nike Hong Kong national team 2024 home jersey featuring the name and number of star forward Matt Orr.

Hong Kong has a rich footballing history, having played their first international match over 100 years ago and becoming a FIFA member in 1954. Despite being a Special Administrative Region of China since 1997, Hong Kong have maintained a national football team and regularly play against China. Although Hong Kong have never qualified for the World Cup, their most celebrated victory was in the 1986 World Cup qualifiers, where they recorded an historic 2-1 against China in Beijing to advance to the next stage of qualifiers and subsequently knock-out China. After several decades of struggles, Hong Kong have re-emerged on the international stages over the past 10 years and have consistently achieved relatively strong results. This improvement has culminated in their qualification for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, their first appearance at the tournament since 1968.

Matt Orr is currently one of the leading players in the current generation of Hong Kong football, with the 27-year-old becoming a key part of their national team squad in recent years. He was born and raised in Hong Kong to a New Zealand father and a Chinese mother, and joined the academy of local giants Kitchee at 11 years of age. In 2016, Orr chose to play football collegiately in the United States for San Francisco and later with Syracuse for his senior season in 2019. Following his time in the US, Orr returned to Kitchee in early 2020 and played a key role in their Hong Kong Premier League title victories in the 2019-20 & 2020-21 seasons. In 2022, Orr was signed by China League One club Guangxi Pingguo Haliao, where he became one of the top scorers in the league in a breakout 2023 season, scoring 15 goals in 26 matches. This led to a move to newly-promoted Chinese Super League club Shenzhen Peng City in February 2024. At international level, Orr has scored 5 goals in 28 matches for the Hong Kong senior national team since his debut in 2021.
