Somalia Prototype Jersey/Shirt

This is an AMS Clothing Somalia national team prototype jersey.

This jersey was produced as part of a proposal by AMS Clothing to supply the Somalia national team, however ultimately, they did not end up coming to an agreement, with a small number of sample jerseys being made available for purchase.

Somalia’s national team has been one of the lowest ranked in FIFA over the past few decades largely due to the country’s civil war and inability to host home matches. This situation has affected all levels of football in Somalia, however with recent improvements in security and the emergence of their youth teams, the future looks bright for Somali football. One sign of this optimism was the impressive performance by Somalia’s U-17 national team at the 2018 CECAFA U-17 Championship, where they finished runners-up after defeating regional powerhouses Kenya & Uganda. Another exemplification of the teams’ progress was their heartbreaking loss to Zimbabwe in the opening round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September 2019, where Somalia looked like they were about to pull off a huge upset before conceding 2 late goals to lose 3-2 on aggregate.
