Futebol Clube Lagartos are based in Bambadinca in the Bafatá Region in north-eastern Guinea-Bissau and compete in the Campeonato Nacional da Guiné-Bissau, the top tier of football in the country. The city of Bambadinca has a population of just 33,000, however the team have recently emerged as a growing force in Bissau-Guinean football. Their most successful season was in 2015 where Lagartos (the local word for alligator) finished 3rd in the league and 2nd in the Taça Nacional da Guiné Bissau, losing to local powerhouse Sport Bissau e Benfica in the final.
