Madagascar 2019 Home (ANDREA #2) Jersey/Shirt

£34.99

This is a Garman Madagascar national team 2019 home jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Carolus ‘Andrea’ Andriamatsinoro.

Andrea has been a key member of the Madagascar national team squad since debuting for the Barea in 2009 and was part of the core group of players that lifted the team from obscurity to recent success. He is best remembered for scoring twice for Madagascar at AFCON 2019, firstly against Guinea in a 2-2 draw and later against Nigeria in their shock 2-0 victory. In total, he has played 37 matches and scored 11 goals for Madagascar. At club level, Andrea has played predominantly in Algeria, most notably for powerhouse club USM Alger from 2012-17. He then moved to Saudi Arabia and joined Ohud Club before signing for Al-Adalah, who were recently promoted to the Saudi Pro League.

Madagascar’s national team were traditionally one of the lowest-ranked teams in Africa, reaching an all-time low FIFA ranking on 190 in March 2014. In recent years however, they have improved dramatically, culminating in their historic qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, which was their maiden AFCON appearance. Despite low expectations coming into the tournament, Madagascar pulled off some of the greatest upsets in AFCON history and finished 1st in their group after an incredible 2-0 victory against Nigeria. From there, they defeated DR Congo on penalties in the Round of 16, however were unable to make it past the Quarter-Finals after a 3-0 loss to Tunisia.
