Bantu FC Mafeteng compete in the Lesotho Premier League, the top-tier of football in Lesotho. They are based in the city of Mafeteng in western Lesotho, which is the country’s third largest city. Bantu FC are one of Lesotho’s oldest clubs, with their history dating back to 1927 and are the only top-tier club to be based in Mafeteng. Despite their long history, Bantu FC have only started to achieve league success in recent years, winning the league title for the first time in 2014 and later following it up with more league titles in 2017 & 2018. Bantu FC have traditionally had more success in the Lesotho Independence Cup, the top knockout tournament in the country, having won the cup a total of 8 times, including recent titles in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 & 2017.
Hlompho Kalake is one of Lesotho’s premier midfielders and has established himself as a key player for both Bantu FC and the Lesotho national team. Kalake comes from the local Mafeteng region and has played his entire club career at Bantu FC since first playing for the senior team in 2014. At national team level, he has been one of most consistent performers for the ‘Likuena’ in recent years, playing a total of 51 international matches and scoring 7 goals since debuting in 2015.
