TP Mazembe 2015 CWC Home (SAMATTA #9) Jersey/Shirt

This is an Adidas TP Mazembe 2015 home jersey featuring the number and name of star striker Mbwana Samatta.

This design was worn by TP Mazembe in the 2015 Club World Cup and features the sleeve patches from the tournament.

TP Mazembe compete in DR Congo's Linafoot and are based in Lubumbashi, the second largest city in the country. They are one of the most successful clubs in the history of African football, having won the CAF Champions League 5 times, the second most in the history of the tournament behind Egypt’s Al-Ahly. TP Mazembe attracted worldwide attention at the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup, where they became the only African club to have made the final of the competition after defeating both Pachuca of Mexico 1–0 in the quarter-finals and Internacional of Brazil 2–0 in the semi-finals. They were later defeated by Inter Milan 3-0 in the final. TP Mazembe won DR Congo’s Linafoot league title a record 17 times, making them the most successful club in the country.

Prior to joining KRC Genk in Belgium, Mbwana Samatta had to rise through the ranks of African football and has forged a new path to Europe for the growing number of talented players from the East African region. Samatta began his career in Tanzania with African Lyon FC and then local giants Simba SC before moving to DR Congo’s TP Mazembe. Samatta was a key figure as TP Mazembe won the 2015 CAF Champions League, scoring seven goals in the process and finishing as the competition's top scorer. He then finally made the move to Europe, scoring 36 goals in 79 matches at Belgian First Division A club Genk in 2016 and was the league top scorer for 2018/19 season. In early 2020, he signed with English Premier League club Aston Villa, becoming the first Tanzanian to play in the EPL.
