This is an Adidas TP Mazembe 2015-18 home jersey featuring the number and name of legendary striker Trésor Mputu.
TP Mazembe compete in DR Congo's Linafoot and are based in Lubumbashi, the second largest city in the country. They are one of the most successful clubs in the history of African football, having won the CAF Champions League 5 times, the second most in the history of the tournament behind Egypt’s Al-Ahly. TP Mazembe attracted worldwide attention at the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup, where they became the only African club to have made the final of the competition after defeating both Pachuca of Mexico 1–0 in the quarter-finals and Internacional of Brazil 2–0 in the semi-finals. They were later defeated by Inter Milan 3-0 in the final. TP Mazembe won DR Congo’s Linafoot league title a record 17 times, making them the most successful club in the country.
Mputu is one of TP Mazembe’s most famous players, with the forward playing over 300 matches for the club since debuting in 2002 and being a key part of their recent success. At the peak of his career in 2010 he was suspended for 12 months following his aggressive actions toward a referee during match against Rwanda APR FC. Upon his return he immediately continued with his scoring prowess at Mazembe before transferring to Angolan giants Kabuscorp in 2014. He later returned to TP Mazembe in 2016 and is back as their top striker. In addition, he has 48 caps for the DR Congo national team and is the second all-time leading goal-scorer for The Leopards.
