This is a Puma Togo national team 2021-22 home jersey featuring the number of star winger Ihlas Bebou.

Togo had rarely achieved much international success until the late 1990s when they became a regular qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations. They made history by qualifying for their first appearance at the World Cup in 2006, when they shocked Senegal to finish on top of their qualifying group. Despite losing every match at the World Cup, they performed admirably in a tough group that included South Korea, Switzerland and France. Since then, they have not reached the same level of success, however in 2013 they did achieve their best-ever finish at AFCON when they reached the Quarter-Finals.

Ihlas Bebou is one of the leading players in the current generation of Togolese football and is one of the footballers from Togo to be playing in a major European league. Bebou was born in Sokodé in central Togo, but spent most of his childhood in Germany and came up through the youth ranks of Fortuna Düsseldorf. He debuted for Fortuna Düsseldorf’s reserve team in 2012 and eventually worked his way into the senior team, becoming a regular starter in the 2015-16 season as the club competed in the 2. Bundesliga. After continuing to impress, he was signed by Bundesliga club Hannover 96 in 2017, where he spent 2 seasons before joining fellow Bundesliga side and current club TSG Hoffenheim. The 28-year-old has played his best football with Hoffenheim, developing into a consistent goalscorer and a key member of the squad. At international level, Bebou has won 29 caps for Togo since making his national team debut in 2016 and was a member of their squad that competed in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
