Sudan 2017 Home (#10- M. TAHER) Jersey/Shirt
£19.99
This is a Sudan national team 2017 home jersey featuring the number of veteran striker and captain Muhannad El Taher.
Sudan is one of the oldest national teams in Africa and were one of three teams to compete in the inaugural Africa Cup of Nations in 1957. Their greatest achievement was winning the 1970 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil; however, they have achieved little success since then. From 1976 until 2008, they did not qualify for AFCON, yet in 2012 they saw a resurgence by making it through to the Quarter-Finals. Sudan’s strong domestic league has been somewhat of a hindrance for national team development with top players almost never leaving the local league to seek a higher level overseas.
Muhannad is arguably one of the greatest players in the recent history of Sudanese football and has been a regular member of the national team squad since his debut in 2004. He has 70 caps for the Falcons, making him the all-time games record holder for the national team and he has represented Sudan in the 2008 & 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. In addition, he was captain of the team as they achieved an impressive third place finish in the 2018 African Nations Championship.
