Somalia 2018-19 Home (#9- MOHAMED) Jersey/Shirt

This is an Adidas Somalia national team 2018-19 home jersey featuring the number of star winger Hussein Mohamed.

Somalia’s national team has been one of the lowest ranked in FIFA over the past few decades largely due to the country’s civil war and inability to host home matches. This situation has affected all levels of football in Somalia, however with recent improvements in security and the emergence of their youth teams, the future looks bright for Somali football. One sign of this optimism was the impressive performance by Somalia’s U-17 national team at the 2018 CECAFA U-17 Championship, where they finished runners-up after defeating regional powerhouses Kenya & Uganda. Another exemplification of the teams’ progress was their heart-breaking loss to Zimbabwe in the opening round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September 2019, where Somalia looked like they were about to pull off a huge upset before conceding 2 late goals to lose 3-2 on aggregate.

Hussein Mohamed is one of the footballers from Somalia's global diaspora to have represented the national team in recent years. The 25-year-old was born in Mogadishu, but spent most of his childhood in Finland, where he has played all his club football to date. Mohamed began his senior career with Finnish 3rd tier club Viikingit in 2014 and was signed by top tier club HIFK in 2018. After two seasons with HIFK, he joined AC Kajaani in 2020 and his most recent club FC Haka in 2021. Mohamed was first called up to the Somalia national team for their World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe in 2019 and later represented Somalia at the 2019 CECAFA Cup.
