This is an Adidas Real Kashmir FC 2020-21 home jersey featuring the name and number of star midfielder Danish Farooq Bhat.
Real Kashmir compete in the I-League, one of the two co-existing premier football leagues in India and are based in Srinagar, the capital of the region of Jammu & Kashmir. The club was founded in 2016 and failed to make it past the group stages of their inaugural league season in 2016-17 after finishing 3rd on goal difference. The following season, they improved significantly under the guidance of Scottish manager David Robertson and won the 2017-18 I-League 2nd Division title, thus becoming the first team from Kashmir to be promoted to the I-League. Real Kashmir have performed strongly since their promotion, finishing 3rd in the 2018-19 season and 4th in the 2019-20 season. The club won the 2020 IFA Shield Title defeating George Telegraph 2-1 in the final.
Danish Farooq Bhat is currently the leading player in Kashmiri football and is nicknamed the ‘Kashmiri Ronaldo’ by local fans. He began his senior career with I-League 2nd Division side Lonestar Kashmir in 2015 before signing with Real Kashmir prior to their first season in 2016. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder quickly became one of the few Kashmir-born players to be a regular member of the Real Kashmir starting squad and after attracting the interest of several major clubs, he was signed by Indian Super League giants Bengaluru FC in 2021. His continued strong form led to a call-up to the India national team in 2022, making him just the second player from Kashmir to represent India after Mehrajuddin Wadoo.
