Palestine 2019 Home (M. WADI #19) Jersey/Shirt
This is a Jako Palestine national team 2019 home jersey featuring the name and number of star striker Mahmoud Wadi.
Mahmoud Wadi is one of the current stars of Palestinian football, with the towering 27-year-old striker having had to overcome considerable obstacles to establish his professional career. Wadi was born and raised in Khan Yunis, a city in the Gaza Strip and began his career with Gaza Premier League club Al-Ittihad Khan Yunis. He then moved to Hebron-based club Ahli Al-Khaleel in 2015 and was impressive in their 2016 AFC Cup campaign, however soon found himself stranded in Gaza and prevented by Israeli authorities to return to the West Bank and play for Ahli Al-Khaleel. Eventually, Wadi was able to find a way out and then in August 2017 signed with Jordanian giants Al-Ahli SC, where he performed strongly, scoring 10 goals in 17 matches. After just one season, Wadi caught the attention of Egyptian Premier League club Al-Masry and after two successful seasons at the Port Said-based side he was signed by emerging Egyptian powerhouse Pyramids FC in late 2020. At international level, Wadi has established himself as a key member of the Palestine squad since debuting in 2017 and has won a total of 14 caps for the national team.
Palestine have been competing at international level since their football federation was founded in 1928, however they were only recognised by FIFA in 1998 after the creation of the Palestinian National Authority. After joining FIFA, Palestine achieved little success and faced significant challenges in training, playing and travelling due to travel restrictions placed by Israel on people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Despite these issues escalating over the coming years, Palestine have become one of the region’s success stories after qualifying for their maiden Asian Cup in 2015 by winning the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup. They qualified again in 2019 and reached an all-time high FIFA ranking of 73 in March 2018.
