This is a Jako Oman national team 2018-19 home jersey featuring the number of star midfielder Raed Ibrahim Saleh.

Oman’s national team played their first international match in 1965, however it was until the 1990s that the team began to show signs of improvement after many years of being one of the weakest teams in the region. Oman have qualified for the AFC Asian Cup on 4 occasions and have appeared at 4 of the past 5 tournaments. They failed to progress beyond the group stages at their first 3 appearances in 2004, 2007 & 2015, however at the 2019 Asian Cup they made it to the Round of 16 after defeating Turkmenistan 3-1 in their final group stage match. Oman’s greatest achievements have been their 2 Arabian Gulf Cup titles- when they hosted the tournament in 2009 and also in 2017. In the 2017 edition they defeated Asian heavyweights Saudi Arabia in the group stages and then UAE in the final to truly mark their emergence as a force in the region.

Raed Ibrahim Saleh is amongst the greatest Omani footballers of the modern era and one of the very few players from the Gulf region to have played their club football in Europe. Saleh began his senior club career with local club Al-Orouba SC before moving to Omani giants Fanja SC in 2013. He established himself as one of the top players in the Oman Professional League and played a key role in Fanja’s 2015-16 league title victory. In July 2017, Saleh signed a 2-year contract with Maltese powerhouse Valletta F.C., marking the first time an Omani footballer had signed to a European club since the legendary Ali Al-Habsi in 2003. Saleh spent two seasons at Valletta and was a key member of the midfielder as the club won league titles in 2017-18 & 2018-19 as well as competing in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. In 2019, Saleh returned to Oman and signed with Dhofar, where he has once again become a leading player in Omani domestic football. At international level, Saleh has scored 6 goals in 89 matches since debuting in 2012 and has represented Oman in the AFC Asian Cup in 2015 & 2019.
