Liberia 2017-18 Home (#9- JOHNSON) Jersey/Shirt
This is an Adidas Liberia national team 2017-18 home jersey featuring the number of star striker Sam Johnson.
Liberia is most known for producing 1995 FIFA World Player of the Year (and current President) George Weah, who guided his country to their only Africa Cup of Nations appearances in 1996 and 2002. Outside of these achievements, Liberia have found it difficult to compete against their rivals in the strongest West African region, however a promising 2019 AFCON qualifying campaign saw them just miss out on returning to the tournament for the third time.
Sam Johnson has been one of Liberia’s leading footballers in recent years having played his club football in a range of top-tier leagues throughout Europe and Asia. Johnson began his professional career in Liberia with Nimba FC, where his impressive performances led to a move to Swedish club Assyriska IF in 2011. After several years playing for a number of lower league clubs in Sweden, Johnson was signed by Allsvenskan giants Djurgårdens IF in December 2014. He performed strongly in Sweden’s top league, scoring 17 goals in 41 matches over two seasons at the club. This led to a move to China League One side Wuhan Zall in 2016, which was followed by stints with Norway’s Vålerenga and MLS club Real Salt Lake. In early 2021, Johnson joined Malaysia Super League club Sabah FC on a lucrative one-year deal. At international level, Johnson has scored 3 goals in 18 matches for Liberia since his debut in 2015.
